One Heart, One Name, One Direction: The Foundation of True Unity and Teaching

What if the blueprint for organized, intentional education was written into Scripture nearly three thousand years ago? In 2 Chronicles 17, we find a king who did something remarkable before sending a single teacher into the field. He cleared out every competing loyalty from his own heart first. The lesson here cuts deep for all of us. We live in a world that constantly invites us to keep options open, to hold onto Yah with one hand while quietly reaching toward the apple tree, the orange tree, the hill, the backup god we turn to when we are not sure the real one handles that particular department of our lives. The text names this pattern plainly, and it calls us to name it in ourselves. A heart lifted toward God in the ways described by the Hebrew word Gabah is not a passive, quiet thing. It is an elevated, directional force. The difference between a heart that builds a kingdom and a heart that destroys itself is not the intensity of the drive but the direction it is aimed. That reframing alone is worth sitting with. The very capacity in us that could make us dangerous or prideful becomes a foundation when it is surrendered upward. This message invites us to ask ourselves honestly: what high places in our own lives are still standing that we have not yet been willing to tear down?
